Kalvebod Waves

The overhead plan is to transform Kalvebod Brygge from a desolate office address to a teeming harbour quay with two new squares and an undulating promenade on the water.

Kalvebod Brygge is to be inner Copenhagen’s counterpart to the popular and packed Islands Brygge. Stretching along the waterfront between Langebro bridge and Bernstorffsgade, Kalvebod Bølge (Kalvebod Waves) will provide a venue for water sports as well as relaxing sunbathing.

Kalvebod Bølge is planned to open up the area and reconnect the city with the water, serving as a meeting place for Copenhageners and visitors alike.

You can already visit part of it now, but the official opening will take place in the end of August.

Harbour baths – Open air swimming in the centre of Copenhagen

If you are lucky to visit Copenhagen on a warm and sunny day, we recommend you to take a break from the sight seeing and go for a swim in the harbour.

The harbour has three baths: Islands Brygge, Fisketorvet and Sluseholmen.

The quality of the water is checked daily and has to be approved by the authorities before swimmers are let in.

There is a lawn in front of the Islands Brygge pool where you find lots of room for picnics etc. Often this area is busy until quite late with people BBQing, enjoying a beer or listening to music.
